Ms Anelisa Vena holds an MPhil in Maritime Studies  with a focus on Coastal and Marine Tourism. She has obtained her qualifications from Nelson Mandela University from a Diploma – Master’s Degree. Her education background is on Tourism and Maritime studies. She did her Master’s thesis on “Community involvement in Coastal and Marine Tourism at Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa”.  She is in the process of publishing academic publications.


Ms Anelisa Vena serves as the Sector, Education and Training Administrative Assistant at the South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI), where she offers support to her unit to lead interventions that will in turn advance the Oceans Economy. She is currently assisting in facilitating and coordinating the Operation Phakisa Coastal and Marine Tourism Expert Group secretariat.


Prior to her role at SAIMI, Ms Vena  was an intern at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB), contributing significantly to the conservation of coastal birds and other complementary marine species.
